⦿ Customise swatch colours in Ableton Live

LSE allows you to customise Live's default set of track swatch colours by automatically patching the application binary.

  • Dynamic address search system enables patcher to work on the majority of past and future Live builds on both platforms
  • HSV editor & multi-selection support allows for easily creating & modifying palettes
  • Light/dark modes depending on your system setting
  • Auto gradient tool generates a full gradient palette from a single row of colours
  • Import and export swatches using a simple PNG format that can be easily shared online (here's an example)
  • Easily revert to the unmodified Live binary using automatic backups

NOTE: LSE aims to support all recent builds of Live, but updates may occasionally break the patcher. Please get in touch with a bug report if patching fails, or if some swatches remain unmodified after patching.

The latest versions of Live 11 or 12 are most likely to be tested & supported!

Additionally, ARM / Apple Silicon builds of Live are only supported under Rosetta at present, as the ARM binary is significantly harder to patch and I do not yet have access to an Apple Silicon machine. Intel macOS builds, including those in Universal binaries, should be patched correctly.

Using LSE

LSE can be run from anywhere without installation. It will ask for elevated permissions on Windows or Full Disk Access on macOS; this is necessary to allow access to the Live binary for patching.

Make sure Live is closed before hitting patch!

Hotkeys

C Copy selected swatch
V Paste selected swatch
A Select all swatches
Shift + LMB Add to selection (multi-select)
G Toggle auto gradient mode

Clicking row and column headers will select all swatches in that row/column. Holding Shift will add to the selection.
